Friendship is the Focus of Book Week Scotland 2025
Scotland's annual celebration of books and reading opened today, carrying the theme of Friendship.
Book Week Scotland, now in its 14th year, aims to bring people of all ages and all walks of life together to share the joy of reading and storytelling.
The celebration, which this year runs from 17th November to 23rd November, includes a programme of events and projects supported by the nation's authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators.
You can view the full programme of events and book tickets via the Scottish Book Trust website.
Events include book talks at libraries, a book launch, quiz events and a poetry workshop and bestselling author Elisabeth Gifford talking about Daphne du Maurier. Most events are free, some have a ticket price.
The Scottish Book Trust's celebration is supported by Creative Scotland and the Scottish Library & Information Council (or SLIC).
As with previous years, the Scottish Book Trust has produced a free book, made up of personal stories from the people of Scotland. This year, the stories are on the theme of friendship and a selection of them have been put into the final book, which is free to order.
The Trust offers book recommendations and programmes, support for authors and learning resources for schools. Find out more on its website.
